Noggin Property is a simple-to-use mobile phone app that enables communities to collect and monitor data about properties in their town centre

The Ethos Place Noggin Property app has been selected as one of the UK’s best innovators by the Mayor of London and Nesta Challenges and will play a role in the city’s recovery from Covid-19.

The Mayor of London’s £1m Resilience Fund, delivered in partnership with Nesta Challenges, asked a panel of expert judges to choose innovative businesses that could find creative solutions to the issues caused by the pandemic, such as regenerating high-streets, creating new work spaces and improving air quality.

The Noggin Team was thrilled to have been selected to help tackle the Activating High Streets Challenge and are already working with their Resilience Partner Ealing Council, on tackling the issues of empty properties.

The project is led by Ethos Partner, Toyubur Rahman MIPM.

He says,

“We are really excited to be working on the Activating High Streets Challenge to help tackle the issue of empty properties in our towns and cities.”

“What is clear is that high streets have been undergoing a significant structural shift for over a decade and what they transition into remains to be seen. The Corona Virus epidemic will have a profound impact and accelerate their transformation. Many businesses have already closed and it is highly likely the vacancy rate will increase significantly, devastating and demoralising high streets for years to come.”

“It’s critical that those in charge of re-activating our high streets gain quick and accurate information about these properties. It’s a complex issue, but we believe we are developing the right tools and have the skills and knowledge to tackle this ambitious task.”

“Noggin Property is a powerful toolkit for data collection, analysis and reporting. It can help partners to develop policies, plans and initiatives for the regeneration, transformation and ongoing management of our high streets.”

Sven Latham is an Ethos Partner and Noggin founder. He said:

“It has been a very challenging time for Londoners. I am confident the Noggin team can work with our partners to find a way to push London forward into recovery and keep the city resilient and robust for years to come”.
